Dr Fred Hassan Konteh is a social scientist and an experienced researcher with a background in Human Geography and Population Studies/Demography and over 20 years of experience in applied research and university teaching. His extensive research has involved working with inter-disciplinary teams, implementing large-scale evaluations, and engaging with policymakers, service providers, service users and other stakeholders in UK, Sierra Leone and Liberia. Apart from evaluation research, he has a strong interest in public policy, health services, child protection and development research, with a focus on generating research evidence to inform policy, planning, strategy and programming, and address social inequalities. A mixed methods researcher and experienced academic/trainer, Fred has trained and coached hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate students and field research assistants in the theory, principles and practice of social research and how to combine quantitative and qualitative research approaches.
At CMDA-SL Fred has been providing technical expertise, leadership and quality assurance in implementing independent programme evaluations and development research projects for the Government of Sierra Leone, and major development partners, including the University of Georgia, UNICECF, Save the Children and GOAL Sierra Leone Northern Ireland.
